Basketball Recap: Tivy Comes Up Short

Tivy lost against Pieper back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tivy Antlers lost to the Pieper Warriors on the road by a 62-48 margin. While losing is never fun, the Antlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Warriors are ranked 183rd).

Pieper got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was MAYSON THOMAS out in front who went 10 of 15 en route to 24 points and six rebounds. The game was THOMAS's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was PARKER GOLSCH, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Tivy has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season. As for Pieper, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 16-10.

Tivy will take on New Braunfels at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Braunfels has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three contests. As for Pieper, they will face off against Veterans Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Veterans Memorial has won six straight at home, while Pieper won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
