Softball Recap: Grapevine Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

It's playoff time, and Grapevine had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a run and slipped past the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since April 11th.

Bella MacMahon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grapevine's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ashley Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Grapevine is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their defeat dropped their record down to 31-7.

As of now, neither Grapevine nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
