Softball Recap: Letcher County Central's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Letcher County Central won against Scott County on Saturday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Cougars didn't even let the Leslie County Eagles on the board, marking the Cougars' second-straight 8-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Leslie County's batters probably weren't too happy with Scarlett Stamper, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up two walks). Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Stamper.

On the hitting side, Katie Combs was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine contests. Anna Hatton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Letcher County Central and bumps their season record up to 19-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Leslie County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-14 record this season.

Letcher County Central will head out to take on Shelby Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leslie County has already played their next matchup (against Belfry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
