Basketball Recap: Strawberry Crest Beats King for Their Third Straight Victory

Strawberry Crest extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They enjoyed a cozy 87-70 win over the King Lions. The score was all tied up 36-36 at the break, but the Chargers were the better team in the second half.

Strawberry Crest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Hall out in front who shot 50% from the field to rack up 25 points and six boards. Those 25 points gave Hall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maximus Von Ancken, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Strawberry Crest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, King fell to 2-1. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (64), they still had to take the loss.

King's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rodney Smith, who went 8-for-16 on his way to 18 points and five boards. Smith has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. George (TJ) Daniels was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine assists.

Strawberry Crest will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Middleton at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd. As for King, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-29 defeat against Miramar on the 28th.
