Football Recap: Batavia Starts off Right with Win over Madeira

Batavia had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS to the tune of 42-14 on Friday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 26-21 loss the last time these two teams met.

Batavia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Harris, who threw for 438 yards and six TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. The dominant performance also gave Harris a new career-high in passer rating (143.1). Xavier Ison helped Harris out on the ground, picking up 155 receiving yards and three scores.

Looking ahead, Batavia will venture away from home to face off against Reading at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madeira, they will host Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
