While Ryan didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged the Azle Hornets out 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Olivia Buettner made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Khloe Martin, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

The victory made it two in a row for Ryan and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Azle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3-1.

Coming up, Ryan will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Garland at 11:20 a.m. Ryan is facing North Garland at the right time seeing as North Garland is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Azle, they will take on Mansfield Legacy in a tournament on Thursday. Mansfield Legacy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
