Soccer Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Derby

It was a proper cat-fight when Derby duked it out with South on Tuesday. The Panthers' defense stepped up to hand the Cougars a 2-0 shutout. Given Derby's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas soccer rankings (they are ranked sixth, while South are ranked 44th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win (which was Derby's third in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Derby didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Hutchinson on the 1st. As for South, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Valley Center on the 1st.
