Softball Recap: Dixon Triumphs

Dixon never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the DeKalb Barbs. That's more bragging rights for the Dukes & Duchesses, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Allie Abell's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Haenitsch, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailey Tegeler, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

The win got Dixon back to even at 10-10. As for DeKalb, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 16-15.

Looking ahead, Dixon will head out to face off against Rochelle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for DeKalb, they will welcome Rockford Auburn at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Barbs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
