Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Arionna Carter and Ariyana Kirksey Lead Manatee to Victory

While Manatee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 19-0 win over the Palmetto Tigers on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Hurricanes as they're now sitting on three straight.

A big part of Manatee's win came down to the chemistry between Arionna Carter and her top target Ariyana Kirksey. Carter threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes while Kirksey picked up 30 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Manatee's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Palmetto, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Manatee will welcome Southeast at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Southeast: 12.6, Manatee: 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Palmetto, they will head out on the road to challenge Parrish Community at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parrish Community's defense has only allowed 2.2 points per game this season, so Palmetto's offense will have their work cut out for them.
