Soccer Recap: Gateway Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gateway proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Thornton Trojans, sneaking past 1-0. Gateway wouldn't have won without Sa'Mya Shazier, who scored the game-winner.

The win was the third in a row for Gateway, bringing their record up to 6-3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Thornton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gateway will face off against Skyview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thornton, they will take on Aurora Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thornton will be up against Aurora Central's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.08 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
