Baseball Game Preview: Grant Pacers vs. McClatchy Lions

Grant hasn't had much luck against McClatchy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Pacers will head out to challenge the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Grant has given up an average of 16.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grant fell victim to Cordova and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Lancers, falling 12-0.

Meanwhile, McClatchy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They never let the Honkers get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

Not much got past Ari Silva, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Yuba City off the board. Silva has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Blaszczynski, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

McClatchy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

McClatchy's record now sits at 10-2. As for Grant, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grant has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like McClatchy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Grant suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to McClatchy when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Pacers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
