Basketball Game Preview: Triton Trojans vs. Bremen Lions

The Triton Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Bremen Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bremen took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Triton, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 12 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Triton turned things around against Jimtown on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Jimmies 56-24. The Trojans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Savannah Hawley was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Sydney King was another key player, putting up nine points.

Triton was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Bremen's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 56-45 to Culver Academies.

Triton will need focus on slowing down Emma Kincaid, one of several Bremen players who made an impact when they last played. She went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds. Kincaid continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Grubbs, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points.

Bremen's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Triton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Triton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Bremen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Triton was able to grind out a solid win over Bremen in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 58-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Triton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
