The team relied heavily on Margaret Jenkins, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makenna Meadows, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Lake Region was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winter Haven only posted a batting average of .071.
Sebring hadn't beaten LaBelle on the road since March 22, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. Sebring walked away with a 5-2 win over LaBelle.
Amber Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Layla Davis was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Paizlee Carnahan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.
Lake Region pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sebring, their record is now 9-3.
Sebring's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Lake Region has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sebring, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 strikeouts. Will Lake Region keep running through batters, or will Sebring buck the trend?
Everything went Lake Region's way against Sebring in their previous matchup back in February, as Lake Region made off with a 10-0 victory.
