The Lakeside School Chiefs will square off against the Ezekiel Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Lakeside School barely beat Southern Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lakeside School blew past Southern Christian 14-8 last Thursday. The contest marked the Chiefs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Addison Phillips was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Calleigh Caldwell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Amelia Clements, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Lakeside School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel Academy came tearing into Saturday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Knights have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Lakeside School, Ezekiel Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Sarah Vick. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Vick was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Baylee Horn, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Addie Newell was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Ezekiel Academy pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeside School, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lakeside School hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Ezekiel Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lakeside School might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Ezekiel Academy in their previous meeting on March 11th. Will Lakeside School have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
