Football Recap: Eastern Skates Past Southern with Ease

Eastern put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Southern Tornadoes, posting a 41-6 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Eastern was led to victory by Jack Montgomery and Eric Manley Jr.. Montgomery rushed for 124 yards and two TDs, while Manley Jr. threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Manley Jr. a new career-high in passer rating (177.1).

Eastern didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Montgomery and Isaiah Stidham. Montgomery is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Southern, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will venture away from home to take on East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Tartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Southern, they will face off against Trimble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Tornadoes' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
