Softball Recap: Millbrook Takes a Loss

Millbrook dropped their record down to 6-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Brentsville District Tigers, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Pioneers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Brentsville District, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

For Brentsville District's part, Austyn Blankenship spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Ava Garza was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Marvin, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Millbrook is set to take on their familiar foe Handley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Brentsville District will square off against rival Skyline at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
