Recap: Orange Lutheran Lancers vs. Mater Dei Monarchs
The Orange Lutheran Lancers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 82-39 loss at the hands of Mater Dei. Orange Lutheran was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-12.
Mater Dei found their leader in underclassman Brannon Martinsen, who scored 17 points along with four blocks. Martinsen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joe Keegan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Orange Lutheran has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Mater Dei, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
Orange Lutheran will be playing at home against Santa Margarita at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece. Mater Dei won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Campbell Hall at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Campbell Hall's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 contests.
