California high school football: Statewide top 25 scoreboard

No. 2 St. John Bosco will battle No. 6 Servite in game of the week at SoFi Stadium.

This week's high school football schedule in California is headlined by No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) taking on No. 6 Servite (Anaheim) on Friday at SoFi Stadium.

St. John Bosco is 2-0 in the Trinity League while Servite is 1-1. Both of Bosco's wins were close late in the game before it pulled ahead in beating Orange Lutheran (Orange) 28-24 on Oct. 4 and Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) 13-0 last week.

Freshman Koa Malau'ulu will be the starting quarterback for Bosco after junior Matai Fuiava transferred out of the program earlier this week. Malau'ulu has thrown for 588 yards and nine touchdowns against one interception this season.

Malau'ulu will battle a fellow freshman in the Servite secondary as Kaleb Aiava leads the team with three interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Servite topped JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) in its league opener before falling to national No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 28-6 last week. Senior Quaid Carr has rushed for 865 yards and nine touchdowns for the 6-1 Friars this season.



Another Trinity League matchup features No. 8 Santa Margarita at No. 5 Orange Lutheran (Orange).

Santa Margarita is looking for its first league win after losses to Mater Dei and St. John Bosco. The Eagles trailed 16-10 at halftime against Mater Dei, eventually falling 40-18. Against St. John Bosco the score was 0-0 in the fourth before the Braves ripped off 13 points in the final frame. Juniors Ivrick Carrigan and Leki Holani had sacks while Dash Fifita had an interception.

Orange Lutheran is 1-1 in the Trinity League with the win coming against JSerra Catholic. Senior Nebraska commit T.J. Lateef threw a pair of touchdown passes to Arizona State pledge AJ Ia. On defense junior Auma Jennings had three sacks and freshman Marcus Fakatou added two.

In a battle of unbeatens in the Big-West Upper League, No. 11 Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) will face No. 4 Centennial (Corona).

Murrieta Valley is led by a powerful run game featuring senior Dorian Hoze, who has 1,035 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

Centennial has won five straight games since losing to Mater Dei and Santa Margarita to begin the season. Five-star Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet has completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 1,040 yards and 13 touchdowns. On the ground he has added 335 yards and five scores.



No. 13 Lincoln (San Diego) will take on No. 24 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) in a battle of the top two teams in the San Diego Section.

The Hornets have a powerful passing attack featuring four-star Oregon commit Akili Smith Jr. His top targets are senior Ty Olsen and sophomore Courtney Miller-Thompson, who have combined to haul in 68 receptions for 977 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Dons are 6-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of St. Ignatius College Prep 16-14. Seniors Jake Funderburg and Jonothan Solomon lead a strong rushing game, combining for 980 yards and nine touchdowns.

In Northern California No. 25 San Ramon Valley (Danville) will meet No. 9 De La Salle (Concord) in a game between undefeated squads.

Senior Rhett Thompson leads San Ramon Valley with 1,434 yards and 21 touchdowns through the air. Top targets are seniors Owen Scott and Evan Economos, who have nearly 1,000 yards with 13 total touchdowns.

The Spartans rolled to a 31-9 win in London last week as senior running backs Dominic Kelley and Derrick Blanche each had two touchdown runs.



Idaho commit Toa Faavae is the team's quarterback and is a strong runner, leading the team with nine rushing touchdowns this season. Senior Oregon commit Matthew Johnson anchors the defense with four sacks.
