Baseball Game Preview: Middlesboro Yellowjackets vs. Lynn Camp Wildcats

Middlesboro is a perfect 7-0 against Lynn Camp since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Yellowjackets will square off against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Middlesboro is looking for their season's first victory.

Bell County hit Middlesboro with a 11-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Bobcats, falling 16-4.

Meanwhile, Lynn Camp came up short against Pineville on Thursday and fell 10-7. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Mountain Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Ethan Curry was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Curry was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Caleb Woods stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Dj Wren was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Middlesboro's record now sits at 0-14. As for Lynn Camp, their record is now 5-13.

Middlesboro took their win against Lynn Camp when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 18-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
