Baseball Recap: Lamar Find Success

Lamar won the last time they faced Bennett and things went their way on Thursday too. The Thunder walked away with a 7-4 win over the Tigers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunder.

Alex Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lamar let Cael Buxton and Braxen Shelton run wild. Buxton went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Shelton went 1-for-2 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Shelton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diego Estrada, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Lamar's record now sits at 13-6. As for Bennett, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Lamar will host The Classical Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Thunder's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bennett, they will head out on the road to take on Yuma at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Outlaws have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
