Soccer Recap: Tamalpais Takes Down Benicia in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tamalpais had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks who were credited with the victory. The Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Benicia Panthers's one. Given the Red Tailed Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 200th in California, while the Panthers are ranked 647th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tamalpais' one-goal win came courtesy of Mateo Hale, who's now up to two this season.

Tamalpais' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Benicia, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Tamalpais has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against De Anza on the 21st. Benicia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
