Softball Preview: Marathon Dolphins vs. Mater Academy Bay Rays
The Marathon Dolphins will be playing at home against the Mater Academy Bay Rays at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marathon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 17-0 margin over Gulliver Prep. The win made it back-to-back victories for Marathon.
Allison Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Garcia has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Garcia was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base.
In other batting news, Marathon got a massive performance out of Dani Perdomo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Shynell McGuire was another key contributor, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, everything went Mater Academy Bay's way against Somerset Academy South Homestead on Friday as Mater Academy Bay made off with a 15-0 victory.

M. was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run.
In other batting news, Katie G. was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Katlynn F., who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Marathon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Mater Academy Bay, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9.

However, it's not like Mater Academy Bay struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1.
