Football Recap: Giddings Piles Up the Points Against Smithville

After only ten points in their last contest, Giddings made sure to put some points up on the board against Smithville on Friday. The Buffaloes took their matchup with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over the Tigers. That's more bragging rights for the Buffaloes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kyle Montgomery and Corbin Medack. Montgomery rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry while Medack rushed for 104 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Montgomery a new career-high.

Giddings didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Conner Ray and Prestyn Cantrell.

The win got Giddings back to even at 1-1. As for Smithville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Giddings will take on Salado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Smithville, they will square off against La Grange at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
