Baseball Recap: St. Ignatius College Preparatory Gets the Win

St. Ignatius College Preparatory won against Menlo-Atherton last Wednesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. St. Ignatius College Preparatory came out on top against the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish by a score of 6-3. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 9-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Chase Gordon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Atticus Gibson was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. DJ Delaney was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Ignatius College Preparatory and bumps their season record up to 4-2-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they dropped their record down to 5-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, St. Ignatius College Preparatory will challenge Archbishop Riordan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Ignatius College Preparatory is facing Archbishop Riordan at the right time seeing as Archbishop Riordan is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they will face off against Archbishop Mitty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop Mitty will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory surely won't give up without a fight.
