Softball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Manteo on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Manteo Redskins by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Aces' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mia Hoffer spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

This is the second loss in a row for Holmes and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Manteo, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holmes will challenge Manteo at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Manteo, they will face off against Cape Hatteras at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Manteo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
