Basketball Recap: Lafayette Drops Highest Score of Season Against Tabb

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lafayette). They walked away with a 66-59 win over the Tabb Tigers on Wednesday. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Tigers are ranked 329th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shamar Welsh had a dynamite game for Lafayette, going 11 for 17 on his way to 25 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Kordell London, who posted eight points and three blocks.

Lafayette was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Tabb still got an impressive performance from James Mueller, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Marbra, who had 13 points and six boards.

Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Tabb, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Lafayette didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-55 loss against Bruton on the 17th. Tabb has also already played their next game, a 50-43 defeat against Warhill on the 17th.
