Softball Recap: Jeffersonville Red Devils vs. Columbus East Olympians

If Jeffersonville was riding high off their 13-2 takedown of New Albany last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jeffersonville Red Devils lost 14-1 to the Columbus East Olympians on Monday. Jeffersonville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Columbus East apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

On Columbus East's side, Hermione Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Robinson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Jeffersonville's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-9. As for Columbus East, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-14.

Jeffersonville will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. Lanesville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Jeffersonville's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Columbus East, they will head out on the road to square off against Scottsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
