Baseball Game Preview: Wilson Warriors vs. Pleasant Grove Spartans

The Wilson Warriors will square off against the Pleasant Grove Spartans at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Wilson came up short against Red Bay and fell 8-5. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bryson Pickens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Cayden McCormack was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Indian Springs on Thursday as they made off with an 18-3 win.

Jordan Walker was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaury Webster, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Pleasant Grove's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-19.
