Augustine Youssef leads Desert Christian Academy to victory over San Jacinto Valley Academy

Recap: Desert Christian Academy Conquerors vs. San Jacinto Valley Academy Wolves

The Desert Christian Academy Conquerors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past San Jacinto Valley Academy with points to spare, taking the game 82-63. Given Desert Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 641st, while San Jacinto Valley Academy is ranked 1334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Augustine Youssef, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Herling, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.

San Jacinto Valley Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Edwards, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edwards has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nahamani Hamala, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists.

Desert Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for San Jacinto Valley Academy, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12.

Desert Christian Academy and Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for San Jacinto Valley Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Temecula Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
