Basketball Recap: Mason Cooper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vermilion over Huron

Vermilion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huron Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 659th, while the Tigers are ranked 287th).

Vermilion's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Cooper, who posted ten points and five boards. Cooper has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Nate Pinkerton was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Vermilion's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Huron, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Looking ahead, Vermilion and Oak Harbor will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Huron does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
