Softball Recap: Gila Ridge Wins Going Away Against Skyline

While Gila Ridge put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Skyline. The Hawks blew past the Coyotes 16-0. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.

Kara Espino was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Aimee Cisneros also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Espino wasn't the only one making solid contact: Gila Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Gila Ridge's record is now 7-3. As for Skyline, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gila Ridge will take on Cibola at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Skyline, they will face off against Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
