Preview: Collinsville Pirates vs. Chico Dragons
Collinsville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Chico Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Collinsville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Collinsville beat Era 65-54.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Collinsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chad Davidson, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davidson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Carpenter, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Chico's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 18th straight loss. They were beaten by Muenster 65-24. While losing is never fun, Chico can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1593rd, while Muenster is ranked 575th).
Collinsville's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Chico, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-20.
Collinsville took their victory against Chico in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 78-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Collinsville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
