Softball Game Preview: Grace Lancers vs. Canyon Springs Cougars

The Grace Lancers will square off against the Canyon Springs Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Grace 3.6, Canyon Springs 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Grace is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let University Prep get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Not much got past Rosy Salazar, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep University Prep off the board. Salazar has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grace Maguire, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two doubles.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canyon Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Sierra Vista on Thursday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Canyon Springs has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Grace, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
