Baseball Recap: Tuscarora Triumphs

Tuscarora proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Penfield Patriots 8-7.

Michael Kozikowski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Tuscarora is 2-1 when Kozikowski posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ian Sullivan was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Peshke, who went 2-for-6 with two RBI.

Tuscarora's record now sits at 3-9. As for Penfield, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Tuscarora is taking a road trip to face off against Dominion at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Huskies' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Penfield, they will be playing at home against Webster Schroeder at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
