Preview: St. Michael Warriors vs. Istrouma Indians
The St. Michael Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Istrouma Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
St. Michael can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Tara on the road to the tune of 62-14. With St. Michael ahead 35-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
John Martinez went supernova for St. Michael, rushing for 261 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Martinez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Sentino, who rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Istrouma fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 38-22 win over Bonnabel on Friday.
Their wins bumped St. Michael to 6-2 and Istrouma to 5-3.
St. Michael took their win against Istrouma in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 29-6. Does St. Michael have another victory up their sleeve, or will Istrouma turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
