The Lewis-Palmer Rangers will square off against the Lutheran Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewis-Palmer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Lewis-Palmer is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Pine Creek, who was ranked 12th at the time (Lewis-Palmer was ranked ninth). The Rangers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. The Rangers' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Lewis-Palmer saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alvin Jarrell, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Lutheran had just enough and edged out Cheyenne Mountain 4-3 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Payden Joyce tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Lutheran's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis-Palmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lewis-Palmer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Lewis-Palmer couldn't quite finish off Lutheran when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
