Big Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 30-22 to the Westwood Lumberjacks. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lumberjacks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Big Valley's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. Trent Farber was the real danger to the passing game, picking up three interceptions all by himself.

Ryan Nelson had a dynamite game For Westwood., rushing for 227 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.2 yards per carry. Nelson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles.

Big Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Westwood, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Big Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Butte Valley at 6:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Westwood, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 30-26 loss against Happy Camp on the 26th.
