Softball Game Preview: Capital Bruins vs. Flathead Braves/Bravettes

Capital has gone a perfect 10-0 against Flathead recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bruins will welcome the Braves/Bravettes at 12:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Capital has four straight victories, Flathead has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Capital took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Russell, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bruins' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rustlers a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday.

The result came thanks to Calyse Hendrix's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Capital saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madi Emmert, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Flathead came up short against Glacier on Thursday, falling 19-2.

Flathead's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Capital, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Capital took their victory against Flathead when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 19-9 score. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Braves/Bravettes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
