Softball Recap: Butte Wins Going Away Against Hellgate

Butte won the last time they faced Hellgate and things went their way on Monday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 11-3 win. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Brea Henderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Butte got a massive performance out of Mattie Stepan, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and one double. That double was Stepan's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brittyn Klima, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Butte lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.

Butte now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hellgate, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coincidentally, Butte and Hellgate will both be playing Big Sky the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Knights will host them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
