Phoenix Academy took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Millennium, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Firebirds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Lions on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Firebirds have posted since August 26th.

Phoenix Academy took Millennium into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-17, 25-15, 19-25, 19-17.

Kylie Beeson paced Phoenix Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Beeson got some help from Callie You and her nine assists. You also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Abigail Haileselassie, each putting up five.

Despite the defeat, Millennium saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Addie Freeman had 14 digs and two aces.

Phoenix Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Millennium, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Phoenix Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Cornerstone Charter on the 14th. Millennium does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
