Softball Game Preview: Hamburg Bulldogs vs. West Seneca East Trojans

The Hamburg Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the West Seneca East Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Hamburg nor West Seneca East posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Saturday, Hamburg didn't have quite enough to beat Williamsville East and fell 3-2. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Claire Sokolowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

Meanwhile, West Seneca East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-0 to Starpoint. The shutout was out of character for the Trojans seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

West Seneca East's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Hamburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Everything went Hamburg's way against West Seneca East in their previous meeting back in April, as Hamburg made off with a 13-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
