Basketball Recap: Ziyon Nicholson Key Part of Team Effort in Stallions Win

There's no place like home for Sierra, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Elizabeth Cardinals with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 45-28. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 32-21 last Thursday.

Sierra's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ziyon Nicholson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Nicholson a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Deja Burns, who posted five points in addition to nine blocks and eight rebounds.

Sierra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Sierra's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Elizabeth, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Sierra won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pueblo Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elizabeth, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals duke it out with the Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
