District 10 Region 1 A recap Oct. 23, 2012

West Middlesex extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 1 A this week by beating Kennedy Catholic, 55-20. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Big Reds.

Farrell moved up to 250 from 280 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Steelers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Conneaut Area 20-18.

West Middlesex's Trey Staunch and Sage Pope have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Staunch has thrown for 919 yards this season, while Pope, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 26 catches for 333 yards. Lakeview's Blake Reddick leads the league in rushing yards with 1370.

A big matchup in District 10 Region 1 A this week will be when the Sailors take on Jason McElhaney's team. At the moment, Lakeview is in third, while the Big Reds are in first.

There should be lots of points scored when Dan York's team and West Middlesex face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Sailors comes in having scored 165 this season, while the Big Reds have scored 259. Lakeview scored 0 points last week as it lost to Sharpsville.

The Blue Devils took down the Sailors 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
