Softball Recap: Sylmar Takes a Loss

Sylmar lost against Poly back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sylmar lost 15-1 to Poly. The loss leaves the Spartans still looking for their first win of the season.

Sylmar saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melanie Andrade, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Andrade has posted since back in May of 2024. Alina Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Sylmar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Poly, their record now sits at 3-4.

Coming up, Sylmar will head out on the road to challenge Reseda at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Reseda has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Sylmar will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Poly, they will be taking part in a tournament against King/Drew at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
