Recap: Palatine Pirates vs. Conant Cougars

There's no place like home for the Palatine Pirates, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 victory over Conant on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Palatine also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Palatine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Frankie Henderson led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Henderson has scored all season. Halle Onyekonwu was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.

The win got Palatine back to even at 12-12. As for Conant, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palatine won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Glenbrook North at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Glenbrook North will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Conant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Schaumburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Schaumburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Conant in Illinois (Schaumburg is ranked 43rd, while Conant is ranked 305th).
