Recap: Shullsburg Miners vs. Warren Warriors

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pecatonica, the Shullsburg Miners were happy to have found some success on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-47 victory over Warren. Given Shullsburg's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 200th in Wisconsin, while Warren is ranked 559th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Warren's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryce VanRaalte, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Treyton Pafford who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 44.7% of Warren's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Shullsburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Warren, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Shullsburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Benton at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Benton is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Warren won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Galena at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th.
