Baseball Recap: Caldwell Takes a Loss

Caldwell extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 3-14. They lost 18-1 to the Skyview Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 two weeks ago.

As for Skyview, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

For Skyview's part, Joel Henry looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Henry posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Skyview got a massive performance out of Tyler Russell, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Russell has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimball Robison, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Caldwell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-3 defeat against Bishop Kelly on the 18th. As for Skyview, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Nampa at 6:00 p.m. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
