Basketball Game Preview: Coronado Islanders vs. Point Loma Pointers

Two dominant guards in Loxly Johnson and Grant Stewart are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Coronado Islanders will head out to take on the Point Loma Pointers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Coronado is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Imperial with a sharp 81-58 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Islanders have posted since January 7th.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Point Loma, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past High Tech CV 73-41 on Tuesday. The Pointers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Coronado pushed their record up to 13-16 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Point Loma, their win bumped their record up to 18-9.
