Baseball Game Preview: Monte Vista Monarchs vs. Steele Canyon Cougars

Monte Vista is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Steele Canyon a six-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Monte Vista Monarchs will look to defend their home field against the Steele Canyon Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Monte Vista made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Santana, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Monarchs fell just short of the Sultans by a score of 5-3 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Monarchs have suffered since May 23, 2024.

Monte Vista saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Orlando Rupley, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Anthony Kephart also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Steele Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat Clairemont on Monday and fell 6-5.

Tommy Rimoldi was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Steele Canyon is 2-1 when Rimoldi posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Gavin Caha was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Steele Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.
