Basketball Game Preview: West Orange Warriors vs. Wekiva Mustangs

West Orange is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Wekiva a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The West Orange Warriors will welcome the Wekiva Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Friday, West Orange was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-39 to Apopka.

Despite their defeat, West Orange saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chakayla Scott, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 23 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those 23 boards gave Scott a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jadid Polanco, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Wekiva came up short against Horizon on Friday and fell 51-44.

Like Wekiva, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Jakayla Johnson led the charge by putting up nine points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiana Washington, who had eight points and eight rebounds.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for West Orange, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
